I have severe multiple level spinal cord damage with complications, asthma, severe autonomic dysfunction with the potential for stroke and other cardiovascular effects, GI ulcers that have bled severely twice, multiple other illnesses, and a new thoracic lesion.I am going to have surgery for this problem( I have had 6 surgeries for other problems in the past with life threatening complications)I have been riding metro access for 14 years, yet I have to keep recertifying and now they gave me conditional eligibility based on the asthma diagnosis, which by the way is getting worse and almost killed me twice, Spinal cord damage with resultant arthritis, chronic pain, complex regional pain syndrome, and eventually implant surgery to control my spasms and pain does not go away or have a cure. I also have more problems with alertness, focus , and concentration. Time makes these problems much worse. I had to call the ambulance two times before when I took the train. this cost a lot more than a metro access ride. My doctor wrote asthma since I have so many diagnoses and never thought they would focus solely on that even though the other diagnoses were also noted. I have conditional disability. Are they for real?

I would like to see some sort of alternative to MetroAccess get started in the dc metro area and I would like any information anybody has on how to start that. MetroAcess' fare hikes are atrocious especially with such bad service.

I totally agree with the above. My wife, legally blind, has her left leg removed, below the knee. It isn't likely that her "off" eye will "turn on" again. Also, it isn't likely her amputated leg will ever--EVER--grow back. She too Needs Metro Access! The every three year 'plan' by WMATA Metro Access, for this type of disibility is well, silly.

(Comment2 continued) Re; IMPRUVE, Paratransit and Congress:
IMPRUVE wants to prevent the rise of a Transit Gestapo nationally, as well as set up our own rider-owned Green Paratransit. I agree with the comments concerning Examiner.com article as to reasons behind recertification and policy meant to reduce number of trips by making it so difficult that we won't want to ride or can't due to the high cost of paratransit. We call it Transit Eugenics and we want to prevent the rise of a Transit Gestapo and conversion of paratransit to an elitist service only for those who can afford it. the Send me your emails, I will send you info or get on the Rondee teleconference call--not for providers or government, just riders--every Wed. at 2pm CT, 3 pm ET. Must email me to be invited. There will be weekly calls beginning Wed. May 11 on 800 number, but Rondee is more secure--just not free--it will be used for more indepth private calls and specialized calls. Email ayomaat@hotmail.com. (To be continued in 3rd comment)
